Bout Dat Action

'Bout Dat Action

It’s been said that a goal without a plan is just a wish. Our strategic plan is designed to raise our youth—and the EJS Project—to reach their highest ambitions through leadership, community connections and accountability.

The EJS Project keeps youth residents of The Set engaged in City Commission meetings, with the Delray Beach Police Department, and other other local initiatives. EJS keeps youth connected to larger county-wide initiatives when youth voice and participation is needed. Youth plan and organize activities to support beautification efforts in The Set that may include clean-ups, paintings and other neighborhoos projects.

To allow students to practice leadership and civic engagement, EJS includes students on organizational planning committees, include at least two students in quarterly reports to the Community Redevelopment Agency, and continue to identify and plan community events where students can project manage and volunteer. Students will also participate in weekly Community Conversations in which they engage in meaningful dialogue around race equity, leadership, and positive impact strategies with local leaders and professionals.

Young Legislators Program

The Young Legislator program gives students the opportunity to learn the inner workings of state goverment and the legislative process. The Young Legislators members will meet on a regular basis to discuss issues important to their communities, share ideas on youth-related issues, and explore the possibilities of a career in public service. This program presents a hands-on opportunity to current and incoming high school seniors residing in the Palm Beach County area to learn about and experience the legislative process.
